As part of our Community Risk Reduction Program the London Grove Township, Fire Marshal, Robert Weer, has been working with the local Emergency Services to identify ways of reducing risk to our community.

One of the identified risks within our community is sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).  According to the American Heart Association, SCA is a leading cause of death in the United States.  When a sudden cardiac arrest occurs if the heart rhythm is not quickly restored, death is imminent.  An automatic external defibrillator (AED) is a small device that analyzes the heart and then prompts the user to deliver a shock to restart the heart.  Having an AED close to the public will enhance a person’s survival rate should an emergency arise.

London Grove Township recently received a grant to reduce the cost of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) System that will be placed at Goddard Park. The Avon Grove Lions Club donated $1,500 to cover the cost of the AED as well as a cabinet to secure the system.
