Appliances & Electronics
Purchasing energy efficient appliances saves money and energy. One thing to remember is that there is more than just the up front cost of the appliance, you also pay for the energy used in its lifetime.
Evaluation for Efficiency
Washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, stove ranges and ovens, computers, home entertainment systems, air conditioners, and many other household appliances can all be evaluated for energy efficiency.
Energy Star
Look at the Energy Guide label on most appliances and electronics to compare energy usage. For the most energy efficient appliances, look for products with an Energy Star label, which meet strict energy requirements determined by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
